A hard day in the shelter

New annexes have been built for the shelter of Hungarian Baptist Aid, which hosted victims of family abuse. Once operational permission is given, the shelter can hosted more victims with their children. Recently 9 women and about 20 children live in the shelter. The women try to get a job and all of them bring their children to nursery or elementary school.

Staff try to do their best, but peaceful life sometimes needs a lot of effort. While we were working there, the regular staff went to a supervision or training, where they could talk about all the problems or experiences they gain during their work. It is important for them because this is the only way they can avoid burning out.

It was an interesting experience to see into their everyday work, problems, difficulties. We experienced a lot of things: giving medicine to sick babies, making everybody keep silent as someone had night shift, or checking the rooms because of cleaning…
