Report from Hernádszentandrás

On 26th August the two-member team of Hungarian Baptist Aid was in the flood-afflicted region and provided the needy and afflicted with schoolyear-starting support and packages of exercise books. The associate of HBAid reports from the event: „ In the hot spell of August, this sunny day it is hard to think of that some months ago all these grassy-flowery meadows were under water and the turquoise clouds were steeping the region wreathing grey without stopping. We are heading Hernádszentandrás. By the time we arrive, Gábor Üveges, the mayor of the little village has already summoned all the families that are raising children attending elementary school. It seems to me that the whole village gathered. We have brought packages of school equipment for these families with the support of the Hungarian Development Bank. The boxes turn up from the car by classes and people are waiting patiently for their turn. Among first-graders there are already some who sign their proof of receipt on their own. It is good to see that! Once the queue of cool or a little shier children runs out and we draw the conclusion that the delivery passed off smoothly and without any trouble.“ |
